Andrew Aitken, Founder and Managing Partner, Olliance Consulting Group
Andrew Aitken is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Olliance Group, the leading open source management consultancy. He is a recognized expert on strategies for the commercialization of open source and has been a leader in the open source community for nearly 10 years. Andrew has more than 20 years senior management experience in building and leading national professional services firms, including Renaissance Worldwide and eWork.
In 2001 Mr. Aitken founded Olliance Group with other industry veterans to provide management and business strategy consulting to companies leveraging open source. In January 2006, Mr. Aitken spearheaded the software industry’s first "think tank" on the future of commercial open source, now an annual event regularly attended by the industry’s leading CEO’s and visionaries. Andrew has chaired and spoken internationally at multiple industry and government conferences on the topic of open source. Mr. Aitken has also participated as an expert witness on the issues of open source and e-voting to the California Senate. Andrew is on the Board of Directors of the Open Source Software Institute and the SDForum and is Chair of their annual Open Source Conference. Terrence Barr, Technical Evangelist, Java Mobile & Embedded Community, Sun Microsystems
Terrence Barr is senior staff engineer at Sun Microsystems and Evangelist of the Java Mobile & Embedded Community. He has 15+ years of industry experience with more than 10 of those years at Sun. He has been working on various technical aspects of embedded systems and Java ME for a number of years including implementation and optimization of virtual machines, byte code hardware acelleration, and multiprocessor platforms. Terrence also participates in several organizations and standards bodies such as JCP, EEMBC, and OMA, is author and co-author of a number of U.S. and European patents, and speaks frequently at various conferences around the world including JavaOne. Terrence is also the project owner of the ME Application Developers project.

, Island Graphics and Broderbund Software. In addition, Berkin founded Jumpin’ Jack Software, an entertainment software company that produced videogames for LucasArts, Sega and 3DO. Berkin earned a bachelor’s degree in economics/computer science from the State University of New York and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Fabrizio Capobianco is CEO of Funambol, Inc., the leading provider of open source mobile email and PIM sync solutions for the mass market. Prior to Funambol, Fabrizio worked at Reuters and Tibco. He also founded the first Italian web company, Internet Graffiti, and started Stigma Online, an information portal with customers that included Kraft, Novartis, Italian Broadcasting Television and the Italian Stock Exchange. Fabrizio has taught courses on mobile at the University of Pavia in Italy, where he holds a Ph.D. in computer science. In the past 12 months, he was recognized as a top "40 under 40" tech leader by American Venture Magazine, by Mobile Village for being a consumer email visionary and by FierceWireless for having one of the best blogs in the wireless industry.
Andreas Constantinou, Founder, VisionMobile
Andreas Constantinou is both a strategist and mobile technology expert. He is the founder of VisionMobile, a market know-how firm delivering sector analysis on the handset ecosystem, open source and mobile service domains. Andreas is also the author of Informa’s strategic report on Open Source in Mobile.
Andreas has eight years experience in research, development and strategy in wireless. He specialises in mobile hands¬ets, open source, mobile software market, device management and operator strategy. Andreas has worked on several product and marketing strategy projects for clients including France Telecom,T-Mobile, OMTP,Teleca, Red Bend, Abaxia and Trolltech, and authored numerous research reports for analyst firms Informa, Ovum and ARCchart. Shane Martin Coughlan, FTF Coordinator, Free Software Foundation Europe
Shane is the coordinator of Free Software Foundation Europe's legal project. He has delivered numerous talks on Free Software licensing issues, provided training courses on licence compliance and process integration, and acted as a consultant for organisations wishing to leverage Free Software for non-commercial and commercial activities.
Shane was previously involved in lock-in analysis, open standards and ICT security as an independent consultant. He studied in the UK at the University of Wolverhampton and read for his MA at the University of Birmingham. His research during his MA was focused on security, and he produced a thesis on cybernetic warfare.
Brian Coughlin, Manager, 4G Product Development, Sprint Nextel
For over 20 years, Brian Coughlin has been working in high technology computer and telecommunications systems.
Networked computer systems become a staple for him starting in 1989 using AppleLink in his first computer-related job as a technician at ComputerLand. By 1992, he was using Archie to conduct research via the Internet and knew there was no turning back.
At PBS in early 1993, Brian ordered its original T-1 line and leased its first Cisco router from PSINet, and worked on prototype systems for PBS Online services. By the time he left PBS in 1996, he had seen HDTV, sent e-mails over satellite links nationwide, conducted demos on Capitol Hill and at the FCC, & was serving web pages off of a Mac sitting on his desk.
In 1995, Brian had the opportunity to be one of the first group of employees to join Bell Atlantic's new internet services division. In the time he spent there, the unit went from ground zero to having over 100,000 users. Brian worked with pioneering technology companies of the day like Netscape, SGI, and Sun Microsystems.
In 1998, Brian joined Sun after being impressed by the Sun people & technology he encountered at that time. Sun's slogan "The Network is the Computer" was already inherent in everything Brian had worked on in most of the 1990s. At Sun, Brian worked in embedded Java and other Sun software technology with Sun partners to better empower their products to succeed in a connected world.
In 2006, Brian took a new opportunity to work at Sprint, which had recently merged with Nextel. Today as a technical Product Manager in Sprint's new XOHM mobile broadband business unit, he is shaping the development of mobile applications & the new wave of WiMAX devices that will run them. This area is what Bill Joy calls the 'Here Web', and its value to everyone is compounding daily.
Nicholas Forgues, Manager, Xohm Developer Program, Sprint Nextel
In 1999, with a Marketing Information Systems degree from James Madison University, Nicholas began his career in technology. Since graduating, he has worked as a telecommunications consultant for AMS; systems administrator for TWIinteractive - the digital media arm of IMG; partner development manager at Nextel and most recently the Xohm Developer Program Manager. With Sprint Nextel since 2003, he joined to create the first partner developer program and moved quickly into the 3rd party developer space. With that experience he is now tracking to launch the first global developer program for WiMAX at Xohm. Nicholas is currently finishing his MBA at the College of William and Mary, Mason School of Business.
Roberto Galoppini, Commercial Open Source Expert and Consultant for Microsoft
A computer industry insider of 15+ years standing, Roberto has worked in such hands-on roles as programmer and systems analyst as well as being involved at a strategic level in one of the first European Open Source firms consortia. He takes an active interest in several free/open source software organisations, including serving on the Advisory Board of the SourceForge Marketplace and acting as the Institutional Relationship Manager for the OpenOffice.org Italian Association. He holds a degree in computer science and is Secretary of IT professionists' Italian Federation. Since 2004 he researches on the economics of Open Source software, collaborating with universities and EC funded research projects. He is also a technical writer for IT and computer-related magazines.
Ari Jaaksi, Director of Open Source Operations, Nokia
Dr. Jaaksi is responsible for the strategy and implementation of Nokia’s mobile open source software platform and software products. He heads the development of Nokia’s Linux based software and Nokia’s open source developer operations on www.maemo.org.
Jai Jaisimha, Vice President, Mobile Products and Technology Development, AOL
Jai Jaisimha is Vice President of Mobile Technology and Product Development at AOL, LLC, a Time Warner Company. At AOL, Jaisimha is responsible for all aspects of software development for AOL’s mobile products including Mobile AIM and AOL’s global WAP portal products. Jaisimha comes to AOL with more than 17 years of software development and management experience. Prior to AOL, Jaisimha was Vice President of Product Development for Medio Systems, a pioneer in the Mobile Search and Advertising space. While at Medio, Jai oversaw development teams that created and deployed industry leading text and voice-enabled search and advertising solutions for Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA, T-Mobile International, Telus Mobility, Sprint and others.
From 2003 to 2005, while at Microsoft, he was involved in connectivity solutions development for the portable digital media device market, including handsets, for the Windows desktop OS. He was also responsible for a new line of business, which included solutions for Windows Media nomadic devices in the automotive space. Working with Nokia and other mobile terminal vendors, as well as a variety of automotive OEMs and suppliers he deployed Windows Media DRM, codec and connectivity technologies.
As founder of ContentTone Systems, Jaisimha oversaw a startup focused on personalization and recommendation system technology, improving the premium-content commerce experience on mobile phones. During his more than five years at RealNetworks, Jaisimha led the company's entry into several new product lines focused on the embedded device, digital music and service infrastructure markets, including RealJukebox, RealServer, RealEncoder, and embedded versions of the RealPlayer product.
For his research in multimedia content management and databases, document filtering and information retrieval at MathSoft, Inc. (now Insightful, Inc.), Jaisimha received research awards and grants from the U.S. Department of Defense, National Security Agency, National Institutes of Health, NASA and the NSF. Jaisimha has a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications from the Indian Institute of Technology, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University, New Orleans and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Dr. Kamada has been recognized globally as a leader in communications and mobile technology. He is the developer of "Compact HTML," an innovative subset of HTML for small information appliances. The technology was submitted to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to be assessed for standardization. In 2000, Dr. Kamada was selected by EE Times as the "2000 Architect of the Internet." In 2001, he received an award from Japan’s Ministry of International Affairs and Communications for his outstanding contributions to the development of communications technology in Japan.
Dr. Kamada received a Doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Tokyo.
Deborah Magid, Director, Software Strategy, IBM
Deborah Magid represents IBM’s $18B Software Group in the company’s 7-year old Venture Capital Group. Her expertise spans across several industries.
Deborah is responsible for building ecosystems for IBM by sharing insights about emerging markets, technologies, and business models with venture firms and entrepreneurs. She also brings insight form the venture community to the development of IBM’s growth strategies. She introduces venture firms and their portfolio companies to IBM's strategy, scouts for emerging business opportunities, and shares views on innovation and growth areas of the market. Deborah is a frequent spokesperson on topics of relevance to entrepreneurs and investors, and is on the board of SD Forum, the Silicon Valley emerging technology network.
Previously in IBM, Deborah managed the portfolio for the global small business group, was a program director for the WebSphere business, led a Java product development department, and launched the Developer Domains on ibm.com. Deborah came to IBM through the Taligent subsidiary, where she directed the human interface design organization, led product marketing, and ran the corporate web site. Previously, Deborah held positions in product management, marketing, and user-centered design at GE Information Services and at AT&T. Deborah holds degrees in cognitive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Connecticut.

Dan joined Google Developer Programs in 2006 to help developers using tools and platforms such as Android and the Google Web Toolkit. Before joining Google, Dan was a computer scientist at GE Research, where he gave himself headaches by switching between web development in JavaScript and integrated circuit design in Verilog. Dan lives in Atlanta with his wife, two cats, and lots of video games.

Ralph Mueller, Director of Ecosystem Development, Eclipse Foundation
Ralph Mueller started working for the Eclipse Foundation in September 2005. A computer scientist by trade, he sees the main focus of his work in the exploration and building of the European Eclipse Eco System. In addition to this, he is one of the main contact points in Central Europe for companies and individuals that want to use Eclipse, provide services around Eclipse or contribute to Eclipse. Based on his past experience, he is also exploring collaboration with industries such as Automotive or Aerospace with the goal to promote the Eclipse idea into these areas.
Having been a software developer and a manager of software development teams in various companies, Ralph joined Object Technology International (OTI) in 1994, where he helped to found the European OTI organisation with its most prominent member, the OTI lab in Zurich - one of the cradles of Eclipse technology.
Ralph then joined IBM, where he served as a lead architect for one of IBM's strategic initiatives for the Automotive industries.

Hadi Nahari is a software security professional with over 17 years of experience in all aspects of software development lifecycle, including extensive work in design and architecture, verification, proof-of-concept, and implementation of software systems. Hadi has worked on large scale, high-end enterprise solutions, as well as resource-constrained embedded systems, with primary focus on Security, Cryptography, Complex Systems Design, and Vulnerability Assessment & Threat Analysis. Luca Passani is an Italian software engineer with many years experience in Web and Mobile Internet development. Prior to joining AdMob, where he currently works, Luca has spent seven years with Openwave Systems and taken part in projects for Telecoms in the US and Europe.
Luca is known to the community of developers for creating popular software tools such as WURFL and WALL.
In addition to that, Luca has authored articles and co-authored books on Mobile development.

Tim joined OMTP 1st January 2006. Prior to joining OMTP, Tim was Head of Devices for O2 Group where he was responsible for all Terminal technology and Portfolio activity during the 3G launch period. He was responsible for the successful launch of the first ODM consumer O2 brand X phones alongside the XDA PDA family. Tim came to O2 via BT Internet and Genie which he joined in early 2000. During this period he played a key role in every part of the evolving mobile data value chain; Business Development in Genie Europe, developing Unified Messaging, pioneering Java Games and launching O2 Active. Tim started his career as a software developer becoming a well known architect of voice and data financial trading room systems. As a director of Alphameric for 12 years he was involved in numerous data broadcast and Internet based projects.
Mark Rogalski, Senior Software Engineer, IBM Lotus- Mobile Platforms, IBM
Mark Rogalski is an IBM Device Software Architect and leads development of Lotus Expeditor for Devices. He is one of the founders of the Eclipse embedded Rich Client Platform project, and is currently a member of the Eclipse Device Software Development Platform management committee. Based in Austin, Texas, Mark has been with IBM for 20 years, spending the last 10 years working on Java software for various types of devices.

Lawrence Rosen is both an attorney and a computer specialist with deep roots in the open source community. He is founding partner of Rosenlaw & Einschlag, a technology law firm that specializes in intellectual property protection, licensing, and business transactions for technology companies. In addition to this law practice, Larry also served for many years as general counsel and secretary of the non-profit Open Source Initiative (OSI). He currently advises many commercial open source companies and non-profit open source projects including the Apache Software Foundation. His book, Open Source Licensing: Software Freedom and Intellectual Property Law, was published by Prentice Hall in 2004. He was a Lecturer at Stanford Law School in 2005-2006.
Tony Wasserman, Executive Director, Center for Open Source Investigation, Carnegie Mellon West
Anthony I. (Tony) Wasserman is Director of the Software Management MS program at Carnegie Mellon West, and the Executive Director of its Center for Open Source Investigation (COSI), which focuses on the evaluation and adoption of open source software, as well as its use in mobile devices. In 2000, Tony became VP of Bluestone Software (acquired by HP in 2001), responsible for its West Coast Labs, where he led the creation of the award-winning open source Total-e-Mobile toolkit, which allowed mobile devices to connect to web applications. During the dot-com boom, he was VP of Engineering for a startup in San Francisco.
Tony is best known as the Founder and CEO of Interactive Development Environments (IDE), which built the innovative Software through Pictures multiuser modeling environment. Before starting IDE, Tony was a Professor of Medical Information Science at the University of California, San Francisco, and a Lecturer in the Computer Science Division at the University of California, Berkeley. He and his team developed and released the User Software Engineering development environment under a BSD open source license in 1981.
Dr. Wasserman has a Ph.D. in computer sciences from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a B.A. in mathematics and physics from UC Berkeley, and has been selected as a Fellow of both the Association for Computing Machinery and the Institute ofElectrical and Electronic Engineers. He was the recipient of the first Stevens Award for his contributions to software development methods.
Christy Wyatt, Vice President, Ecosystem and Market Development, Motorola
As Vice President, Software Platforms and Ecosystem for Motorola, Christy Wyatt is responsible for the development and management of Motorola’s strategic platforms, ISV and developer ecosystems. Christy and her global team drive platform definition, design, and development and cultivate a thriving developer environment through partner recruitment/management, tools development and support, ISV management and go-to-market programs. She currently serves as Motorola’s board member for the Linux Foundation, LiMo Foundation, and Eclipse Foundation.
Prior to joining Motorola, Christy served as Worldwide Developer Relations Director at Apple Computer where she was responsible for partners, global alliances and evangelism. Before her time at Apple, Christy was Senior Director at Palmsource Inc., responsible for their licensing and developer relations teams where she grew the developer community from 3,000 to 200,000 with more than 14,000 applications.

Mike Grant, Global Head, Broadband & Media Group, Analysys
Mike Grant has almost 20 years of experience in the telecoms industry in a variety of senior management roles in operational and consulting environments. He is currently responsible for the development of AnalysysMason’s thought leadership in the media sector, working with operators and media companies to identify and execute value enhancing opportunities in the delivery of content over internet, broadcast, and mobile channels. Previously, Mike was Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Superscape plc, where he played a major role in the development of 3D mobile gaming, building Superscape into one of the world’s leading 3D mobile games publisher. Thomas Jakob, Vice President, Innovation, Swisscom
Thomas Jakob holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Science in Berne. In 2000 he joined Swisscom Innovations as Project Manager for Person-to-Person Multimedia Communication. Caroline Lewko, Founder & CEO, Wireless Industry Partnership (WIP)
Caroline has been in the wireless/ telecom industry since 1995, as a coder, funder, business developer and entrepreneur. She is the current CEO of the Wireless Industry Partnership (WIP), an international community and business resource that showcases emerging wireless companies and connects developers and developer programs to reduce cycle times and increase innovation in the mobile ecosystem. Caroline founded the Wireless Innovation Network of BC (WINBC) in 2001 and is Past Chair. She also spearheaded and Chairs, Wavefront ac, the wireless technology centre in Vancouver, a $14 million project that brings together a number of key industry groups to facilitate time to market of emerging companies.
Patrick McVeigh, CEO, SoonR
As CEO, Patrick leads the overall management of Soonr, the company business strategy, execution of the plan and the vision. Patrick has over 25 years of senior management experience in the telecommunications, personal computing and software industries.
Prior to joining Soonr, Patrick was the CEO of PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC), a global leader in mobile handset operating systems. While at PalmSource, he repositioned the company and transformed it from being a provider of proprietary operating systems to a leadership position in providing open source based Linux operating systems for mobile phones. He led the company through a competitive bidding process, which resulted in the company’s acquisition by ACCESS Company, Ltd. He also served as the CEO of Aliph Corporation, a developer of next-generation audio and speech technologies for mobile communications devices. As founder, Chairman, and CEO of OmniSky Corporation, Patrick led the development and execution of a service launch that provided wireless data services to carriers such as AT&T Wireless and Verizon within one year of the founding of the business. He raised over $250MM in funding through private offerings and a successful IPO, and subsequently sold the business to Earthlink. Prior to that, he served in a variety of executive sales and marketing roles at both Palm Inc. and Apple Computer.

Chris Porthouse, Senior Product Manager, ARM
Chris is a senior product manager in ARM's media processing division, responsible for product management of graphics and audio hardware IP, Java and graphics software.
Chris has over 18 years experience in embedded systems hardware and software, in a variety of engineering, project management and product management roles. Chris has spoken at many events including JavaOne, Low Cost 3G Devices and several ARM Developer Conferences and Technical Seminars.
Bill Weinberg, Industry Consultant and Commentator, Linux Pundit and Director, Linux Phone Standards (LiPS Forum)
Bill Weinberg brings two decades of open source, embedded and open systems, telecoms, and other technology experience to his role as Independent Analyst and Consultant at Linuxpundit.com. He also serves as General Manager of the Linux Phone Standards Forum (LiPS), and as the Mobile Linux Weatherman for the Linux Foundation.
Previously, at Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) Bill was Senior Technology Analyst and managed OSDL Mobile Linux and Carrier Grade Linux Initiatives. Prior to OSDL, Bill was a founding team-member at MontaVista Software, helping to pioneer Linux as the leading platform for intelligent devices. In his varied career, Bill also held technical and marketing roles at Lynx Real-Time Systems, Acer Computer Brazil, and Microtec Research.
Bill is well known for his writing and speaking on topics ranging from global adoption of Linux to embedded/real-time computing, from application porting & migration to licensing and standardization, and from telecom infrastructure to mobile applications. Bill is a prolific contributor to print and on-line journals including, WirelessWeek, LinuxUser, Linux Devices and TechOnLine. Bill is also a frequent speaker, panelist and faculty member at events like LinuxWorld Expo, Software Developer, and Informa Open Source in Mobile.
Jason Whitmire, General Manager, Mobile Solutions, Wind River
Jason has more than 14 years of executive marketing and management experience in semiconductor and system software. He currently serves as General Manager of Wind River's Mobile Solutions business. Previously he was a managing director of FSMLabs, where he headed the worldwide wireless and EMEA businesses, and he was head of business development for wireless software at Infineon Technologies for four years.
Additionally, Jason has held senior product management, marketing and business development positions at two European mobile network operators.
Jason got his start in the wireless arena in 1993 while representing the US government in international spectrum and privatization negotiations.
Mr. Whitmire has several advanced degrees, including an MBA and Masters degrees in economics and politics.
Daniel Zucker, CTO, Wake 3
Daniel F. Zucker, Ph.D. is CTO of Wake3, a leading provider of products and services for WebKit, the de facto standard for opensource mobile web browsing. Prior to Wake3, he was Senior Director of Technology at ACCESS, maker of the NetFront web browser and ALP mobile Linux OS. Dr. Zucker has held several other leadership positions in the handheld computing industry including CTO of ePocrates, the leading supplier of medical applications for the Palm OS Platform, and VP of Engineering for MobileAria, a provider of telematics solutions. Dr. Zucker has authored many academic and professional publications on mobile computing, AJAX, and multimedia computing. He received his BS, MS, and PhD from Stanford University’s Department of Electrical Engineering.
Miska Hakala, Vice President, Mobile Solutions Business Unit, F-Secure
Mr. Miska Hakala is responsible for F-Secure global business operations with major mobile device manufacturers. He has with more than decade of experience in the mobile business. Before joining F-Secure, he held several key positions in the Nokia Corporation in partnering, strategy and business development.
